Telenet Cloud Online Help

Which Java Hosting solutions are provided by Telenet?

Telenet doesn’t support any server-side Java software on the shared hosting webservers, this includes Java servlets, (Enterprise) Javabeans or Server Pages (JSP); a J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) apllication server is required to use a J2EE application. IBM Websphere, JBoss Application server, Tomcat Application Server and Apache Geronimo are the most common servers.

These ’servers’ are NOT available on our shared hosting environment - neither on Apache51 nor on IIS7/8 - and need to be provided by the customer on an appropriate (dedicated) server.

For Plesk and Java server-side support, we suggest you buy the ’Plesk Power Pack’ which includes a Tomcat Application Server.

Java-applet (<-> Java-servlet) by contrast is client-side, which means that the program is running through a web browser and can be used without any restrictions.
