What is a contact type?

There are three contact types:


  • Registrant: the person who owns the right of use of the domain name (licensee).
  • Onsite/Registrant technical contacts: a technical contact with the client (the website builder, the website hoster, ....). This contact type is not required.
  • Registrar technical contacts: the technical contact of the Registrar (this contact cannot be changed).

If Telenet registers your domain name, you will be the Registrant (licensee) and Telenet will be your technical contact.

DNS is reponsible for the registration of Belgian domain names (.be). If you look up a domain name via www.dns.be, you will get an overview of the contact types for that domain name:
