Is it still possible to install a newer package version that is not yet part of the repository?

  • With or without Plesk, after having installed the operating system (with the most recent hotfixes/patches/upgrades) "only" packages from the official repositories that have been sufficiently tested and that are sufficiently stable will be installed. Stability and security always have priority.
  • As an end customer you are fully responsible for your own server. You can always run a package upgrade to a higher version, but this is at your own risk (compile source code, install versions which are already compiled). We strongly advise you to install only packages from the official repositories to avoid any problems when upgrading.
