Is Zend Engine supported?

Zend Engine is supported by us.

PHP is an "interpreted language"; this means that the source code needs to be parsed and compiled every time, before it can be executed. The interpretation is done by:

  • a web server through a PHP processor module (mod_php)
  • a web server through an external CGI-binary
  • a command line interpreter (standalone)
  • a graphic application

The "Zend Engine" is the heart of PHP, the program that runs the PHP source code. This software has been released as open source software so that everyone who uses PHP also already uses the Zend Engine technology.
