What is an A record (Address)?

A-records contain the translation of a hostname to an IP Address.
 

Example:
Domain: fruit.com
Host name: www
IP address: 212.3.240.141

This host will be completed to www.fruit.com and everyone surfing to this URL will be sent to the web server with IP address 212.3.240.141.
