Is it possible to point an MX record to an Alias ( CNAME )?

As stated in the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) RFCs (Request for Change), it is not permitted to point an MX record to an alias/ CNAME.

Example: the following DNS records are not correct: A CNAME MX 10 ; WRONG: "mail" is already a CNAME

However, you can solve the problem by creating a second A record for and by referring to the IP address of your incoming mail server: A A MX 10 ; OK
