Glossary of Terms

Glossary is usually defined as an alphabetical list of technical terms in some specialized field of knowledge. Mounting, in computer science, is the process of making a file system ready for use by the operating system. This method is used for Linux. Concretely. Under Windows, drive letters e.g. A:, C:,... are assigned to disks or partitions, USB-stick, CD-Rom, DVD-drive etc. Under Linux, you need to perform an action to access e.g. a CD-Rom. This action is called mounting.
