How does the connection between PHP and MSSQL work?

A native php mssql driver nl. sqlsrv_connect ipv mssql_connect is used

You will find more information on the following link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc296189(SQL.90).aspx

Example of a connection:

<?php
/* Specify the server and connection string attributes. */
$serverName = "(sql27.hostbasket.com)";

/* Get UID and PWD from application-specific files. */
$connectionInfo = array( "UID"=>”test”,
"PWD"=>”testje1”,
"Database"=>"AdventureWorks");

/* Connect using SQL Server Authentication. */
$conn = sqlsrv_connect( $serverName, $connectionInfo);
if( $conn === false )
{
echo "Unable to connect.</br>";
die( print_r( sqlsrv_errors(), true));
}

sqlsrv_close( $conn);
?>
