What is a CNAME-record (Canonical NAME)?
A CNAME-record is used to make an alias for a certain domain (the canonical name).
The alias will be completed with the domain name.
Example of a CNAME-record:
Canonical name: www.fruit.com
The alias ’apple’ will be completed to apple.fruit.com and it will serve as an alias for www.fruit.com. This means for example that everyone surfing to the URL http://apple.fruit.com will see the website for http://www.fruit.com.
